Visiting: There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students, consisting of a group tour. There are guides for informal visits. To schedule a visit, contact the Admissions Office.
Financial Aid: In 1997-98, 57% of all freshmen and 32% of continu¬ing students received some form of financial aid. 53% of freshmen and 28% of continuing students received need-based aid. The average fresh¬man award was $3600. Of that total, scholarships or need-based grants averaged $1810 ($2700 maximum); loans averaged $2560 ($2625 maximum); work contracts averaged $2725 ($3000 maximum); and parent loan (PLUS program) averaged $5333. 5% of undergraduates work part time. Average annual earnings from campus work are $1800. The FAFSA is required. The fall application deadline is April 1.
International Students: There were 558 international students en¬rolled in a recent year. The school actively recruits these students. They must score 550 on the TOEFL and also take the SAT I or the ACT.
Computers: The mainframe is a DEC VAX 6320. There are more than 250 on-campus PCs available for student use. Students may access the mainframe at various sites on campus or via modem. In addition, there is an on-campus network, including E-mail, Bitnet, and common software. All students may access the system. Labs are open from 8 A.M. to 11 P.M. weekdays and various hours on weekends; there is modem access 24 hours daily. There are no time limits and no fees.
Graduates: In 1997, 2602 bachelor’s degrees were awarded. The most popular majors were business management (24%), education (18%), and social science (8%). In an average class, 15% graduate in 3 years, 37% in 4 years, 73% in 5 years, and 85% in 6 years. 181 com¬panies recruited on campus in 1996-97.
