Bethel College, founded in 1947, is a private institution affiliated with the Missionary Church, offering a liberal arts education with a Christian perspective. There are 3 graduate schools. The average age of freshmen is 18; all undergraduates, 26. 22% do not continue beyond their first year.
Housing: 560 students can be accommodated in college housing, which includes single-sex dormitories and on-campus apartments. In ad¬dition there are and a cultural awareness house. On-campus housing is guaranteed for all 4 years. 61% of students commute. Alcohol is not permitted. Upperclassmen may keep cars.
Activities: There are no fraternities or sororities. There are 21 groups on campus, including art, band, cheerleading, chess, choir, chorale, chorus, computers, drama, drum corps, honors, international, literary magazine, musical theater, newspaper, pep band, professional, radio and TV, religious, social, social service, student government, and year¬book. Popular campus events include Christmas Banquet, Junior-Senior Banquet, and Spiritual Emphasis Week.
Sports: There are 8 intercollegiate sports for men and 7 for women, and 15 intramural sports for men and 15 for women. Facilities include a gym, soccer, baseball, and Softball fields, tennis, basketball, and volley¬ball courts, a weight room, and physical fitness equipment in dormitories.
