Disabled Students: 98% of the campus is accessible. Wheelchair ramps, elevators, special parking, specially equipped rest rooms, special class scheduling, and lowered drinking fountains are available. Services; Counseling and information services are available, as is tuŽtoring in some subjects. There is a reader service for the blind, and reŽmedial math, reading, and writing.
Campus Safety and Security: Measures include informal discusŽsions, pamphlets/posters/films, and lighted pathways/sidewalks.
Programs of Study: Bethany confers the B.A. degree. Bachelor’s deŽgrees are awarded in BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE (biology/biological sciŽence), BUSINESS (accounting, business administration and manageŽment, and business economics), COMMUNICATIONS AND THE ARTS (communications, dramatic arts, English, fine arts, and music), COMPUTER AND PHYSICAL SCIENCE (chemistry and mathematics), EDUCATION (art, business, elementary, middle school, science, and secondary), HEALTH PROFESSIONS (medical laboratory technology, predentistry, and premedicine), SOCIAL SCIENCE (economics, parks and recreation management, prelaw, psychology, social science, social work, and sociology). Business and education are the largest.
Required: All students must complete 38 to 54 semester hours of genŽeral education requirements, 2 semester hours of personal wellness classes, and a junior writing proficiency exam. A total of 128 credit hours, with a minimum GPA of 2.0, is required for graduation. Special: Bethany offers co-op programs and cross-registration through the Associated Colleges of Centra! Kansas, and a 3-2 aerospace engiŽneering degree with Wichita State University. Internships, a Washington semester, work-study programs, dual majors, including history-political science and religion-philosophy, student-designed majors, and limited pass/fail options are also available. There are 7 national honor socieŽties.
Faculty/Classroom: 74% of faculty are male; 26%, female. 30% both teach and do research. The average class size in an introductory lecture is 50; in a lab, 8; and in a regular course, 22.
Requirements: The SAT I or ACT is required. Bethany requires apŽplicants to be in the upper 50% of their class. A GPA of 2.5 is required. Applicants should be graduates of an accredited secondary school, with 4 years of English, 3 of social studies, 2 each of math and science, and 1 each of foreign language and phys ed. The GED is accepted. An interŽview is recommended, along with a portfolio or an audition for some majors. AP and CLEP credits are accepted. Important factors in the ad missions decision are advanced placement or honor courses, leadership record, and evidence of special talent.
Procedure: Freshmen are admitted to all sessions. Check with the school for current application deadlines and fee. Notification is sent on a rolling basis.
Transfer: A GPA of 2.3 in 24 credit hours is required. 60 credits of 128 must be completed at Bethany.
Visiting: There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students. There are guides for informal visits and visitors may sit in on classes and stay overnight. To schedule a visit, contact the Office of AdŽmissions.
Financial Aid: Bethany is a member of CSS. The CSS/Profile, FAF-SA, FFS or SFS is required. Check with the school for current deadlines.
International Students: The school actively recruits international stuŽdents. They must score 525 on the TOEFL and also take the SAT I or the ACT.
Computers: There is a networked computer system with an 8 to 1 stuŽdent to computer ratio. All students may access the system from 7 A.M. to 10 P.M. There are no time limits. The fee is $10 per semester.
Graduates: In an average class, 27% graduate in 4 years, 42% in 5 years, and 44% in 6 years. 26 companies have recruited on campus.
