Visiting: There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students. There are guides for informal visits and visitors may sit in on classes and stay overnight. To schedule a visit, contact Dustin Schlaefli, Campus Tour Coordinator.
Financial Aid: In 1997-98, 74% of all freshmen and 63% of continu¬ing students received some form of financial aid. 66% of freshmen and 59% of continuing students received need-based aid. The average fresh¬man award was $4722. Of that total, scholarships or need-based grants averaged $1702; loans averaged $1820 ($2625 maximum); and work contracts averaged $1200 ($1750 maximum). 60% of undergraduates work part time. Average annual earnings from campus work are $1200. The average financial indebtedness of the 1997 graduate was $13,958. The FFS and the college’s own financial statement are re¬quired. The fall application deadline is March 10.
International Students: The school actively recruits these students. They must score 500 on the TOEFL.
Computers: The mainframe is an IBM ES/9000 Model 9121. The system may be accessed by modem and by terminals located in dormito¬ries and in PC labs in each residence hall and each major academic building. Students can dial into the Web using a pool of 48 modems on the campus backbone. There are at least 225 PCs with Web access in student labs. All students may access the system. The modem pool may be used 24 hours a day, the labs until 11 P.M. There are no time limits and no fees.
Graduates: In 1997, 732 bachelor’s degrees were awarded. The most popular majors were elementary education (12%), nursing (9%), and management (5%). 190 companies recruited on campus in 1996-97. Of the 1996 graduating class, 16% were enrolled in graduate school within 6 months of graduation and 90% were employed.
