Procedure: Freshmen are admitted to all sessions. Entrance exams should be taken before or during the first semester of the freshman year. Application deadlines are open. The application fee is $20. The college accepts all in-state residents who apply. Notification is sent on a rolling basis.
Transfer: Applicants must have a college GPA of 2.0. 30 credits of 124 must be completed at Pitt State.
Visiting: There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students. There are guides for informal visits and visitors may sit in on classes. To schedule a visit, contact the Admissions Office.
Financial Aid: 32% of undergraduates work part time. The FAFSA is required. The fall application deadline is March 15.
International Students: The school actively recruits these students. They must score 520 on the TOEFL.
Computers: The mainframe is an IBM system. 7 student labs can access the mainframe, E-mail, and the university fiber-optic network via PCs. More then 250 workstations and 200 software packages are available. Bitnet and Internet are also available. All students may access the system 7 A.M. to midnight. There are no time limits and no fees.
Graduates: In 1997, 964 bachelor’s degrees were awarded. The most popular majors were nursing (12%), biology (11%), and elementary education (8%). In an average class, 6% graduate in 3 years, 27% in 4 years, 41% in 5 years, and 47% in 6 years. 275 companies recruited on campus in 1996-97.
