Special: The college offers co-op programs with the University of Kan¬sas, cross-registration with the Kansas City Regional Council for Higher Education Consortium, a student exchange program in Tokyo at Sophia University’s summer session, and study abroad in Europe. Internships, work-study programs, and pass/fail options are also available. There are 2 national honor societies.
Faculty/Classroom: 47% of faculty are male; 53%, female. All teach undergraduates. No introductory courses are taught by graduate stu¬dents. The average class size in an introductory lecture is 25; in a lab, 15; and in a regular course, 12.
Admissions: 100% of the 1997-98 applicants were accepted. The ACT scores for the 1997-98 freshman class were: 29% below 21, 27% between 21 and 23, 33% between 24 and 26, 8% between 27 and 28, and 4% above 28. 33% of the current freshmen were in the top fifth of their class; 57% were in the top two fifths. 2 freshmen graduated first in their class.
Requirements: The SAT I or ACT is required. A GPA of 2.0 is re¬quired. Applicants should be graduates of an accredited secondary school. A recommendation letter is required. The GED is accepted. AP and CLEP credits are accepted. Important factors in the admissions de¬cision are parents or siblings attending the school, recommendations by alumni, and recommendations by school officials.
Procedure: Freshmen are admitted fall and spring. Entrance exams should be taken in the spring of the junior year and fall of the senior year. There are early decision and early admissions plans. Applications should be filed by April 1 for fall entry, along with a $20 fee. Notifica¬tion is sent on a rolling basis.
