Transfer: 15 transfer students enrolled in 1997-98. A college GPA of 2.0 is required. 30 credits of 128 must be completed at St. Mary.
Visiting: There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students, consisting of visiting classes, interviewing with faculty and fi¬nancial aid representatives, and touring the campus. Financial Aid: In 1997-98, 95% of all freshmen and 68% of continu¬ing students received some form of financial aid. 80% of all students re¬ceived need-based aid. The average freshman award was $4428. Of that total, scholarships or need-based grants averaged $3841 ($12,856 maximum); loans averaged $1928 ($6625 maximum); and work con-tracts averaged $806 ($1100 maximum). 30% of undergraduates work part time. Average annual earnings from campus work are $748. The average financial indebtedness of the 1997 graduate was $3323. St. Mary, is a member of CSS. The FAFSA is required.
International Students: The school actively recruits these students. They must score 500 on the TOEFL.
Computers: The mainframe is an IBM AS/400. Media labs are avail¬able for course work, and computer labs are available for homework. There are also some PCs in residence halls. All students may access the system. There are no time limits and no fees.
Graduates: In 1997, 123 bachelor’s degrees were awarded. The most popular majors were elementary education (24%), human services (13%), and business administration (13%). Of the 1996 graduating class, 25% were enrolled in graduate school within 6 months of gradua¬tion.
