Required: To graduate, students must earn 124 credits, fulfill all requirements of the major, and maintain a GPA of 2.0. Students must complete the integrative studies requirements and attend the number of required, scheduled convocations for each fall and spring semester of full-time enrollment.
Special: Southwestern offers internships in industry and social and civic agencies, study abroad in Japan and Bulgaria, and through the University of Kansas Institute for Experiential Learning. A music and theater dual major is available, and other combinations or degrees are possible with approval from the Academic Affairs Committee. There is a 3-2 engineering degree program with Washington University of St. Louis. Work-study programs, credit for life, military, and work experience, nondegree study, and pass/fail options are also available. There are 4 national honor societies, a freshman honors program, and 3 departmental honors programs.
Faculty/Classroom: 60% of faculty are male; 40%, female. All teach undergraduates. No introductory courses are taught by graduate students. The average class size in an introductory lecture is 39; in a lab, 10; and in a regular course, 10.
