Transfer: Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to 2.5, depending on the WSU college they wish to enter. 30 credits of 124 must be completed at WSU.
Visiting: There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective students. There are guides for informal visits and visitors may sit in on classes and stay overnight. To schedule a visit, contact the Admissions Office.
Financial Aid: In a recent year, 26% of freshmen and 51% of continuing students received need-based aid. The average freshman award was $900. Of that total, scholarships or need-based grants averaged $935 ($40,000 maximum); loans averaged $1350 ($5400 maximum); and work contracts averaged $770 ($7500 maximum). 36% of undergraduates work part time. Average annual earnings from campus work are $1408. The average financial indebtedness of a recent year’s graduate was $7927. The FFS is preferred. The fall application deadline is March 15.
International Students: In a recent year, there were 938 international students enrolled. The school actively recruits these students. Applicants must take the TOEFL. Students must also take WSU’s own test or complete the school’s intensive English program, which substitutes for the TOEFL requirement.
Computers: The mainframes are an IBM ES 9121/440 and a DEC VAX/4000. Computing labs are located throughout the campus. Students have access as needed and required by academic programs and courses. All students may access the system 24 hours a day. Students may access the system based on allocated funds. There are no fees.
Graduates: In a recent year, 1665 bachelor’s degrees were awarded. The most popular majors were business (22%), health professions (12%), and engineering (10%). In an average class, 12% graduate in 4 years, 21% in 5 years, and 29% in 6 years. 175 companies recruited on campus in a recent year. Of a recent graduating class. 21% were enrolled in graduate school within 6 months of graduation and 96% were employed.
