Disabled Students: All of the campus is accessible. Wheelchair ramps, elevators, special parking, and specially equipped rest rooms are available.
Services: Counseling and information services are available, as is tutoring in most subjects. There is remedial math, reading, and writing.
Campus Safety and Security: Measures include 24-hour foot and vehicle patrol, informal discussions, pamphlets/posters/films, lighted pathways/sidewalks, and medical and counseling services.
Programs of Study: MMA confers the B.S. degree. Associate and master’s degrees are also awarded. Bachelor’s degrees are awarded in BUSINESS (international business management), COMPUTER AND PHYSICAL SCIENCE (oceanography), ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (engineering, engineering technology, marine engineering, maritime science, and transportation technology). Marine systems engineering is the strongest academically. Marine engineering technology is the largest.
Required: A minimum GPA of 2.0 in an average of 140 total credit hours is required for graduation.
Special: The annual training cruise gives students practical experience aboard the academy’s 500-foot ship or on assigned merchant ships. Coop programs are possible in every major.
