Special: Students may cross-register with Colby College and Kennebec Valley Technical College. There are co-op programs and internships available in most majors. The college also offers study in Canada through the New England-Quebec Exchange and in France. A 5-year degree in business is offered. There are 2 national honor societies.

Admissions: The SAT f scores for the 1997-98 freshman class were: Verbal–76% below 500, 20% between 500 and 599, and 4% between 600 and 700; Math–64% below 500, 29% between 500 and 599, 6% between 600 and 700, and 1% above 700. 17% of the current freshmen were in the top fifth of their class; 40% were in the top two fifths. There were 2 National Merit finalists and 9 semifinalists, One freshman graduated first academically.
Requirements: The SAT I is required. A GPA of 2.0 is required. In addition, candidates for admission must be high school graduates with an academic program that includes 4 years of English and 3 years of math. A letter of recommendation from a secondary school counselor is required. An interview is highly recommended. Applications are accepted on-line at the school’s Web site. AP and CLEP credits are accepted. Important factors in the admissions decision are advanced placement or honor courses, personality/intangible qualities, and leadership record.
Procedure: freshmen are admitted fall and spring. Entrance exams should be taken by the fall of the senior year. There are early decision, early admissions, and deferred admissions plans. Application deadlines are open, and there is a $25 fee. Notification is sent on a rolling basis. 21 early decision candidates were accepted for the 1997-98 class.
Transfer: 30 transfer students enrolled in 1997-98. Applicants should have a minimum college GPA of 2.0. The school recommends the SAT 1 (with a minimum score of 400 on each section) as well as an interview. Official transcripts from all previously attended post-secondary institutions are required. 30 credits of 120 must be completed at Thomas.
