The University of Maine at Fort Kent, founded in 1878, is a publicly funded liberal arts institution within the University of Maine system. There are 25 groups on campus, including cheerleading, chorale, chorus, computers, dance, drama, environmental, international, literary magazine, literature, musical theater, newspaper, outing, professional, radio and TV, religious, and student government. Popular campus events include French Heritage Festival, Spring Meltdown, and Winter Carnival.
Sports: There are 2 intercollegiate sports for men and 2 for women, and 9 intramural sports for men and 9 for women. Facilities include a gym, a multipurpose room, racquetball courts, a soccer field, and game rooms in the residence halls.
