Financial Aid: In 1997-98, 85% of all students received some form of financial aid. 75% of all students received need-based aid. The average freshman award was $2500. Of that total, scholarships or need-based grants averaged $1500 ($4000 maximum); loans averaged $2500 ($6000 maximum); and work contracts averaged $700 ($1000 maximum). 70% of undergraduates work part time. Average annual earnings from campus work are $800. The average financial indebtedness of the 1997 graduate was $7000. The FAFSA is required. The fall application deadline is March 1.
International Students: There are 38 international students enrolled. The school actively recruits these students. They must score 500 on the TOEFL or take the college’s own test.
Computers: The mainframes are an IBM 3090-180E/VF and an IBM 4341, linked to an IBM BS-6000 mini-computer and Novell Network. Students have access to 3 major labs and 2 clusters of MS-DOS PCs as well as 1 lab of Macs. Machines are all on interconnected lines for file servers and mail servers. All students have access to the mainframe as well as to Internet resources. All students may access the system from 8 a.m to 10 p.m and by request. There are no time limits and no fees.
Graduates: In 1997, 99 bachelor’s degrees were awarded. The most popular majors were environmental science (16%), behavioral science (15%), and elementary education (15%). In an average class, 1% graduate in 3 years, 19% in 4 years, 46% in 5 years, and 46% in 6 years. 10 companies recruited on campus in 1996-97.
